    Ice and Gstreamer

    Hi Folks,

I'll be giving a talk on Gstreamer conference 2010 about our video-streaming application for small remote controlled vehicle where we use Ice to transfer live video and control commands over the network (session at 16:30-17:00). Of course, we will make the presentation as well as the whole sources available after the conference.

In addition, we submit the proposal for technical demo for the connected CE Linux Conference Europe 2010. We are going to make a live demo of the vehicle but did not get a confirmation yet.

    Hi andreynech,

I have been investigating the feasibility of doing the same thing. I am still getting my head around gstreamer and its capabilities. I am still deciding on how easy such a thing would be to implement.

Since you have done some work on it already and have results. I need to tell management sooner than 26th October. Before you release the source code and slides..

Would it be possible for you to submit a link to the code examples ???
I'm not interested in your presentation. I can wait later for that.

Would be great if you can help me with this.

    cheers

Well, it was not very easy for me but also not a rocket science. Similar to you I started with no knowledge of gstreamer and found the learning curve pretty steep. However, after the main concepts became more or less clear, the progress went much faster.

The code is not stable and not complete yet. But since I want to open it anyway sooner or later, probably it is time to do it now. I will need a day or two to publish it on gitorious (adding license statement to files, create repository, write build instructions, etc.). Will post a message here as soon as I am done with it.

I just submit the first version of the sources and documentation. Please check out the project site on Gitorious

The documentation is not complete yet but I am working on it. Please make sure to check overview.pdf
and README if you are going to try to compile it yourself.

Any kind of comments and improvement suggestions are very welcome!

We have made the presentation and live demo at the GStreamer conference mentioned above. The feedback was very positive and it gave us additional motivation to continue this work. For those who are interested, presentation slides are available online as pdf file or as a zip bandle with screencasts embedded into pdf document . Video of the presentation should be also available soon here.

In addition we started the blog about this project.
