Any plans for realtime support (RT-ICE)?

I'm investigating RT-CORBA. In the course of it I read
about Ice and saw its advertising about simplicity and speed comp'ed to
    CORBA.

Now I wonder if there's any effort planned to implement realtime capabilities. This perhaps could open the world of automation to ICE.

    Any thoughts?

    Best regards
    Loretta

    Hi Loretta,

Real-time is a vast subject; could you describe the features you're interested in?

The latest Ice-E release includes a number of real-time related features:
    - the ability to set the thread-priority of all the threads created by Ice
    - the ability to use mutexes with the priority inheritance protocol on POSIX platforms.

    See http://www.zeroc.com/download/IceE/1.3/README.txt for details.

The next Ice release will most likely incorporate these features as well.

    Best regards,
    Bernard
