Tuxedo and Ice ?

Tuxedo(specially, Tuxedo ATMI) is an excellent TP(Transaction Processing) middleware which supports XA and OTS protocols. However, Ice does not support transaction now. Is there any plan for Ice to support these protocols ? If so, I believe Ice will be more powerful.

We have people at ZeroC with extensive experience with transaction processing, including Bernard who was the chair of the OMG Object Transaction Specification working group. However, without sponsorship it is unlikely we will support a full transaction service.

As a lover of Ice, I know that one principle of Ice is that commerical requirements lead the development of Ice. However, sometimes new exciting features can also create commerical requirements. Tranaction support is one of them, I think. If so, Ice can at least open the new TP(Transaction Processing) market which is dominated by Tuxedo.

Sorry, but to us its all a question of customer demand. Currently, no-one is demanding it so we won't implement it

Why not Tuxedo then? Is it too old to get your interest?

Ice is of course the best middleware of the world. However I also think that some features in other middlewares are worth studying to Ice, which can make Ice more perfect, more powerful, more excellent and of course more popular.

As of Tuxedo, I think that it is a respectful product.
