autoconf makes things easy to build
It has been mentioned on comp.object.corba that it will be a pain to convert the Ice build to use autoconf. I'm sure it will but autoconf is great from the point of view of the person doing the build. I do not know very much about autoconf but would people reconsider using it if I offered to help?
